openSUSE is free distribution of Linux Software. Was originally developed in Germany, but now its owner is an American corporation Novell, Inc. Suse distribution is based on the Slackware, but was significantly improved. Over time, SUSE has included many aspects of Red Hat Linux (RPM and use the system /etc/sysconfig). Release cycle of new versions is about 8 months.
